Luis Milla Drops Hints About His Future at Persib Bandung

After much speculation about his future, Luis Milla may have given Bobotoh a reason to believe he will stay at Persib Bandung and continue to manage the club for the upcoming season.

In his latest Instagram story, the Spaniard posted a photo of the Persib squad accompanied by the text “2022/23 end, 2023/24 soon,” which could indicate commitments from both sides to keep him at the club.

Milla was brought in to replace Robert Alberts as Persib struggled early in the 2022/23 season. In their first seven matches, the team could only collect 7 points, placing them in the 14th position.

Since Milla’s arrival, the team’s fortunes changed, registering 15 consecutive undefeated matches and climbing to the top of the league. However, by the end of the season, Persib had to settle for a third-place finish.

Despite having a short preparation time and coming in the middle of the season, Milla managed to bring Persib to the top 3, even coaching players who were not of his choice. The only senior player signed under his leadership was Rezaldi Hehanusa, someone Milla was familiar with from his time managing the Indonesian national team (PSSI).

In August of last year, Milla signed a two-year contract with Persib, with the option to extend for another year. However, history has shown that such contracts don’t guarantee a coach’s status, as Persib has been known to make changes at any time.

Luis Milla’s experience in Indonesian football extends beyond his time at Persib Bandung. Prior to his current role, he served as the head coach of the national team, further solidifying his familiarity with the local football landscape. Additionally, Milla has an impressive playing career, having played for giants such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

With Milla’s latest Instagram post featuring the Persib squad and the suggestive text, Bobotoh may have reason to be optimistic about his continued tenure at the club. However, until an official announcement is made, Milla’s future at Persib Bandung remains a topic of discussion and speculation.
