Persib Mourns the Passing of Club Legend Encas Tonif

Encas Tonif, a Persib Bandung legend and an integral figure in the club’s history, passed away on Monday at the age of 71, club officials confirmed. As a player, Tonif was known for his strength as a wing-back and his dedication to the club during the 1970s.

One of the highlights of Tonif’s career came during the 1983 Perserikatan Era campaign, where he played a significant role in Persib reaching the final. Unfortunately, Persib lost 2-3 to PSMS in a penalty shootout in the final, held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. Both teams played goalless before the shootout. In the qualifying round of the same campaign, Tonif scored a goal for Persib in a 4-0 victory over Persiraja.

After his playing days, Tonif continued to serve the club as an assistant coach to the late Risnandar Soendoro in 2006. His passing is a significant loss to Persib Bobotoh, as he was not only an accomplished player but also a respected figure in the club’s coaching staff.

Encas Tonif will be remembered for his immense contributions to Persib Bandung, both on and off the field, and for the impact he made on the club’s history. Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire Persib community during this difficult time.
