Persib Bandung has announced the addition of coach Bayu Eka Sari to their coaching staff. Bayu, also known as “Bang Bes”, holds an A AFC license and will serve as one of the assistant coaches alongside Luis Milla.
According to Persib director Teddy Tjahjono, Bayu has signed a one-year contract with the option for extension. Born on October 26, 1990, in Makassar, Bayu previously worked as a member of the coaching staff at RANS Nusantara and had involvement with the Indonesian National Team.
Last year, when Luis Milla joined Persib Bandung, he brought along his fellow Spaniards, Manuel Perez Cascallana and Carlos Grande Rodriguez. The pair have been instrumental in their roles as assistant coach and fitness coach, respectively, and now with the addition of Bayu, there’s an added layer of local expertise and language proficiency.
“Firstly, I want to say, ‘Alhamdulillah,'” Bayu said as quoted by persib.co.id. “Being a part of the coaching team next season is an extraordinary honor and opportunity in my career as a football coach.”
“The support of Bobotoh will be an extraordinary asset. With such large support, there will also be a great responsibility for us to perform our best on the field. Hopefully, this support will be a motivation for us to prepare the best in every training session and match,” the 32-year-old added.
During his previous role in the nationa team, Bayu collaborated with Milla from 2017 to 2018. Their partnership resulted in achievements such as a bronze medal at the 2017 SEA Games and reaching the Round of 16 in the 2018 Asian Games.
The addition of Bayu to Persib Bandung’s coaching staff brings a fresh perspective and adds his fluency in Spanish, which could potentially assist Luis Milla in effectively communicating with Indonesian-speaking players.
As the new season approaches, the impact of Bayu’s addition to the coaching staff remains to be seen. However, his experience and language skills may provide an advantage in conveying instructions to the players and fostering effective communication within the team.
